Women's Sun Valley Knit

£250.00

Site of the world’s first chair lift in the United States and a bastion of classic American ski culture, Sun Valley was the winter playground of 20th century icons such as Ernest Hemingway, Clark Cable, Lucille Ball, Marilyn Monroe, and Ingrid Bergman. The first true destination ski resort in the continental USA, Sun Valley boasted the historic charm of Ketchum, Idaho coupled with ample sunlight and a bucolic atmosphere reminiscent of the storied resorts of Europe. In fact, when commissioned by Union Pacific Railroad Chairman, Averell Harriman to search the West for the location of a world class American ski resort, Harriman’s scout reported on Sun Valley that “among the many attractive spots I have visited, this combines the more delightful features of any place I have seen in the United States, Switzerland, or Austria for a winter ski resort.”

With roots born of the post depression mining boom Sun Valley’s appeal derives from its Western roots and gravity as an isolated locale where the celebrities of the 1950’s could let their hair down while basking in sun-filled winter recreation.

Celebrating Sun Valley as a first in American ski culture, Alps & Meters has designed the Sun Valley Knit. Woven of a luxurious cashmere-merino blend and emblazoned with a graphic representation of the spirit and iconic ethos of Idaho’s famous resort and town known the world over, this elegant knitwear garment piece is ideal for alpine jet setters seeking the sun-filled climes of the United States classic Western ski resorts.
